The following restrictions apply to liquids, gels, and/or aerosols at the passenger screening checkpoint. We recommend that passengers prepare the permitted items as noted before proceeding to the screening point.
Effective November 6, 2006, the maximum quantity of liquids, gels and aerosols permitted in carry-on baggage is 100ml/100g (3.4 oz.) per container. These items must be placed in one clear, closed and re-sealable plastic bag no larger than one litre (one quart). There is a limit of one bag per person, which must be removed from carry-on luggage and placed separately in a screening bin at airport security.
Unsealed, open, coloured or opaque plastic bags of any size with liquids, gels or aerosols in containers of any size will not be permitted through pre-boarding security screening in carry-on baggage. Similarly, liquids, gels or aerosols in containers larger than 100ml/100g (3.4 oz) will not be permitted through security screening as carry-on.
Items exempt from the above restrictions include baby formula, baby food and milk for passengers travelling with infants and prescription and essential non-prescription medicines.
Lighters must be included in the clear re-sealable bag that is carried on board. Lighters cannot be placed in checked baggage on any flight, for safety reasons. Matches must always be carried on your person.
Once past the security screening checkpoint, passengers may carry on board any liquids, gels and aerosols that have been purchased from retail stores and duty-free outlets in the sterile area. For double destination flights and/or travel from the UK and Portugal, please note the exceptions listed below. Air Transat offers an extensive variety of duty free products on board all flights with the exception of pre-cleared flights to the U.S.A.
Please note that passengers on flights departing EU countries (including the U.K.) are allowed to carry on board duty-free liquids purchased at an EU airport and placed in a special sealed bag; otherwise these items must go in the checked baggage.
Additional restrictions for United Kingdom and Portugal
In addition to the restrictions regarding the carriage of liquids, gels, and aerosols, including Duty Free purchased, further restrictions are in place for flights to two destinations in the United Kingdom or two destinations in Portugal, as passengers must deplane and pass through additional security screening at the first station of arrival in the UK.
Examples of double-stop flight:
Toronto-Manchester-Glasgow (first stop Manchester, second stop Glasgow)
Vancouver-London-Glasgow (first stop London, second stop Glasgow)
Toronto-Lisbon-Porto (first stop Lisbon, second stop Porto)
Toronto-Ponta Delgada-Terceira (first stop Ponta Delgada, second stop Terceira)
All passengers whose final destination is the first stop are not affected.

All passengers are permitted to carry on board a 1-litre bag containing liquids, gels and aerosols, with no individual container having a capacity of more than 100ml/100g (3.4 ounces).
Passengers destined to the second stop
Passengers going to the second stop may not purchase duty-free liquids, gels, or aerosols at the Canadian airport of departure.
Passengers going to second stop may purchase duty-free liquids, gels and aerosols on board, which will be provided to them just before arrival at their final destination.
Any liquids,gels, aerosols not contained in the 1 litre/1 quart sealed bag found by local authorities during transit at first stop will be confiscated and destroyed. Air Transat is not responsible for any loss in this regard.
Travel tips: checked baggage screening
As of January 1, 2006, tighter security screening will be conducted on passengers' checked baggage.
Passengers are urged to leave all of their checked baggage unlocked, to avoid the need to forcibly open bags that require further physical inspection.
Passengers are advised to use cable or zip ties as an alternative to baggage locks.
Checked baggage containing items that are prohibited on board an aircraft may be opened for further inspection.

Note: The distilled water used by this device is exempted from the liquid restrictions of carry-on baggage. We recommend that passengers carry supporting documentation from their doctor to facilitate pre-board screening.

Oxygen
For most Air Transat flights (except to and from the United States), you can bring your own oxygen travel kit for occasional or constant use during the flight.
It is important to note that these cylinders have to fit our standard carry-on size, as passengers have to be able to store them under the seat in front of them. We will carry the oxygen travel kits free of charge (dimensions not to exceed 23 x 40 x 51 cm (9 x 16 x 20 in). You are required to provide a medical letter.
To bring your own oxygen, we need to receive a special request through your travel agent at least 7 business days prior to departure. Failure to do so may prevent you from departing on your scheduled flight.
For flights to and from the United States, Air Transat will provide Oxygen for passengers at a minimal cost of CA$100 per kit and per flight segment. The request should be made at the time of booking with your Travel Agent who will contact us to make the necessary arrangements. Requests for oxygen must be received at least 4 business days prior to departure. Failure to do so may prevent you from departing on your scheduled flight.
Liquid oxygen is not permitted on board Air Transat flights.

The urn has to be able to pass the x-ray at the security point (if it can be x-rayed and if security can see the contents, it will be allowed in cabin.
Ashes in a marble urn are accepted in carry on baggage. The urn must be hermetically sealed by the funeral home.
Steel box or heavy metal urns must be checked.
Passengers will need to show at security and check in points both the cremation certificate and the death certificate.
Have your travel agent send us your file information and we will arrange for the urn to be accepted without cost.
Walkers

Liability limitations
Please note that Air Transat will not be held responsible for valuables, fragile or perishable articles, currencies, electronics, computers and medication placed in checked baggage. These items must always remain in your possession inside carry-on baggage. See baggage grid above for size and weight.
All sporting equipment is accepted with a signed Limited Release Form, releasing Air Transat from any claim in regards to damage. For this reason, it is highly recommended that you purchase travel insurance prior to your trip, to cover all such goods. Consult your travel or insurance agent. Should you be travelling with a bag that is already damaged, or one that is showing signs of age and wear, you will be asked to sign a Limited Release Form to limit the airline's liability in this respect, before this item is accepted at check-in. We thank you for your understanding.
There is a certain amount of wear and tear that is a normal result of use and for which Air Transat is not responsible. We therefore decline claims for the following:

Air Transat will do everything possible to carry your checked luggage on the same flight as you. However, should your checked baggage be carried on a subsequent flight (for safety, security or operational reasons), rest assured that it will be delivered to you free of charge, as rapidly as possible, unless applicable laws require you to be present for Customs clearance.
